Rules & Information

1. STARTING TIMES (Tuesday-Sunday)

April 1 – April 30 7:30 Weekends
8:00 Weekdays

May 1 – August 31 7:00 Weekends
8:00 Weekdays

September 1 – October 31 7:30 Weekends
8:00 Weekdays

November 1– March 31 9:00 Weekends

2. MONDAY STARTING TIMES

The course opens at 12:30 p.m. on Mondays, April through October, and at 11:00 a.m. November through March.

3. OBTAINING TEE TIMES

Tee times may be requested up to one week in advance. For weekend or holiday golf, players should fill out a card in the Pro Shop by Tuesday evening for starting times the following weekend. A drawing will be conducted by the Professional Staff Wednesday morning. Golfers may be added to the weekend starting times after noon Wednesday by calling the Pro Shop.

4. TEE TIME PRIORITIES

Play is open on the course at all times for men and women except for events scheduled on the golf calendar and tee times for guest play.

 

5. JUNIORS

Junior golfers are defined as any golfer under 18 years of age.  Juniors are not allowed to tee off on weekends before 2:00p.m. Juniors may be required to be accompanied by a parent on weekends between 2:00p.m. and 3:00p.m. Juniors must pass a written golf etiquette exam and be accredited for play by the Golf Professional before they will be permitted on the golf course by themselves. This accreditation may be withdrawn at any time by the Golf Professional Staff.

 

6. CHILDREN

Children under 18 years of age must pass a written golf etiquette exam and be accredited for play by the Golf Professional before they will be permitted on the golf course by themselves. This accreditation may be withdrawn at any time by the Golf Professional.

7. GUESTS

Members are responsible for the conduct and attire of their guests and must ensure that all members of their party are aware of all Club rules. All guests must be sponsored and accompanied in the same group by an ligible golfing member of Towson Golf & Country Club or its professional staff unless prior approval has been obtained by the Golf Committee for an outing. The same guest will not be permitted to play more than once per month. A golfing member is limited to seven (7) guests per day. Guests cannot tee off prior to 12:30 on Saturdays without the approval of the Golf Professional Staff.

8. TEE TIME EXCEPTIONS

The Golf Professional Staff has the authority to make waivers on items 1 thru 7 in special cases.

9. PRIORITY DURING EVENTS

Members or guests participating in a scheduled event shall have priority over non-participating members or guests. There are usually a limited number of starting times available to golfing members not participating in the event, and golfers should contact the Pro Shop to play.

10. TEE OFF

All players must properly register in the Pro Shop before tee off.

 

11. STARTING TEE

All play must begin at the number one (1) tee unless otherwise directed by the Golf Professional Staff.

12. PLAY

All play will be directed by the Golf Professional Staff.

13. CADDIES AND CARTS

Golf cart rental is available to all players age 16 and older with a valid driver’s license.

Caddies and carts will be assigned and directed by the Pro Shop. Anyone using a cart is expected to know the guidelines on where carts are allowed on the course. Handicap cart designations are available hroughthe Pro Shop. The designation extends the areas where carts are allowed on the course. A physician’s certification letter or approval by the Golf Committee or the Golf Professional Staff is required.  

Pull Carts of a certain type selected by the golf committee will be allowed on the course at any time.  The cart must be purchased through the pro shop.  There will be a trail free for taking the cart of half the price of the golf cart fee.  Storage is available for a yearly fee in the bag room for the same price as golf bag storage.

14. PRIORITY

Foursomes and threesomes have tee time priority over twosomes, who have priority over singles. No more than four players are allowed in a group unless authorized by the Golf Professional Staff.

15. LIMITED AND SOCIAL PLUS MEMBERS

Golfing privileges are extended to Limited and Social Plus members of Towson Golf & Country Club on an in-town guest basis once a month exdluding weekends and holidays.Green fees are to be paid for each use. Limited and Social Plus members are ineligible for any Club golf tournaments. The Golf Committee has the authority to waive this restriction for tournaments that are not filled.

16. NON-RESIDENT MEMBERS

Golfing privileges are extended to Non-Resident members of Towson Golf & Country Club on an in-town guest basis twelve times a year, paying the greens fees. Non-Resident members are ineligible for any Club golf urnaments. The Golf Committee has the authority to waive this restriction for tournaments that are not filled.

17. SOCIAL MEMBERS

Golfing privileges are not extended to Social members.

18. OUTINGS

All golf outings shall be approved by the Golf Committee in conjunction with the Board of Directors.

19. SCORES

All scores must be entered into the handicap computer upon completion of play. All play will be governed by USGA rules, modified by existing local rules. A penalty score will be posted for non-compliance. Posting of scores is subject to review and modification by the Handicap Committee.

20. HANDICAPS

All members must have a current USGA handicap to participate in Club handicap tournaments. Five 18-hole scores are necessary to establish a handicap.

21. HOLE IN ONE PROGRAM

This is an optional program open to any golfing member. If a member participating in the hole in one program has a hole in one while golfing at the Club that is witnessed by at least one other player, he or she will receive $250 in pro shop credit and an award. In addition, each person present at the Club that day receives one (1) free bar beverage. Junior golfers are eligible for the program and will receive the Pro Shop credit and award: no free beverages will be awarded. Temporary greens are not acceptable. Anyone maintaining a handicap at the Club will be charged for this program. See the Pro Shop if you do not maintain a handicap but would like to participate, or if you would like to opt out of the program.

 

22. SLOW PLAY

Slow play will be governed by the Golf Committee.

 

23. GOLF COURSE CONDUCT

Profane language, club throwing, deliberate course damage or other conduct of a member or guest of a member unbecoming a lady or a gentleman will not be tolerated and will be reported to the Golf Committee for appropriate action. The Golf Professional Staff has the authority to ask a person to modify his or her behavior or to leave the premises.

 

24. DRESS CODE

Appropriate golf attire must be worn on the golf course, practice range and putting green at all times. Golfers will not be permitted to play unless dressed in compliance with this dress code.
Denim of any style or color is prohibited.
Shorts must be of Jamaican length (mid-thigh). Shorts specifically prohibited include: cut-offs, gym shorts, hot pants and cargo pants.

For men, shirts without collars are prohibited. Mock and turtleneck shirts are considered collared shirts. Shirts must be tucked in.

For women, shirts must cover the shoulder. Tee shirts and tank tops are prohibited.

Members are responsible for the attire of their children, guests and all members of their party.

25. Locker Room Shoe Service Policy

For those members who wish to pay individually for each service during the month (please refer to the prices listed below), the charges will be placed on their bills at the close of the month and can be paid with the rest of their billing statement. Please note, locker room attendants are no longer authorized to accept cash for locker room services rendered.

All charges must be billed through the Club’s monthly billing statement. For those members who wish to pay a flat monthly fee for unlimited locker room service, a charge of twenty-five dollars per month will be placed on their monthly billing statement.

Sign-up forms will be provided in the locker room for members to sign-up for the monthly unlimited service. When a member signs-up, they will be responsible for charges incurred during the current month, and the unlimited fee will take effect at the beginning of the following month.

Once a member has signed up for the unlimited charge, twenty-five dollars will be billed to their account each month. You may discontinue the twenty-five dollar per month charge by filling out a discontinue slip and the change will take effect on the 1st of the following month.

26. SUGGESTIONS

All suggestions or criticisms regarding handicapping, Pro Shop operation, posting of tournament information, or other matters pertaining to the golf program operation must be made in writing to the Chairman of the Golf Committee.

27. INFRACTIONS

Any infraction of the golfing rules should be reported in writing to the Chairman of the Golf Committee. The Golf Committee will take appropriate action with respect to the infraction.
